Just outside the back of the whitewashed house, over the stone wall, are the gardens and orchards, Fig, Pomegranate and of course the ubiquitous olive. The gorge starts up above the town which translates from the Greek as "no water", which comes only from an underground aquifer as this side of the island is very dry. At night the moon arcs right out over the groves towards the sea, the pale olive branches pick up the sallow lunar light... ![]() |
